East York Probus is all about friendship, fellowship and fun for active retirees who want to maintain a social network with others who have similar interests in the community. When you retire, many friendships that are developed through working life are often lost. Probus opens the door to new friendships, experiences, and the opportunity to develop current interests and explore new ones.

Once you’ve joined East York Probus, you’ll have access to the following:

• A monthly general meeting at which you can engage with interesting and topical guest speakers
• A monthly newsletter providing information about upcoming events, guest speakers, interesting profiles and links to activity registration
• An opportunity to develop new interests and stay active through participation in a wide range of individual activity groups
• An invitation to social events, trips, and outings to a variety of events and activities
• Opportunities for domestic and international group travel
• A multitude of volunteer opportunities
• Access to information for people 55+ with experts in finance, technology, health and travel
• Member discounts through Probus Canada (www.probuscanada.ca) 
• Free membership to Probus Canada (www.probuscanada.ca) and to Probus Global (www.probus.org). Membership gives you access to worldwide chat groups, a photography group as well as the opportunity to attend Probus Global meetings. If you are a world traveller, you can contact a Probus Club member in the city where you are visiting.

Our membership year runs from December 1 to November 30. In December of each year after our membership renewal period, membership spots usually open and people on the wait list are invited to become members. As people from our wait list become members, wait list spots become available. The average person waits 12 to 15 months to gain membership from the wait list.

To become a member, you complete the membership application form. Membership is limited to 300 people, and we are currently at capacity. There are 100 people on our wait list which is the maximum number of names permitted. As membership is full, when you apply you will be placed on the wait list on a first come, first served basis. Once your application has been accepted, you will receive a confirmation email. Watch the Announcements section for the next opportunity to apply.

To join the wait list, you must have a unique email address (not shared with any other member) and you must be able to use our website to join groups and to sign up for events. When you are invited to become a member, the initiation and membership fees will be due at that time.

You do not have to be a resident of the former Borough of East York to join this club, but you do need to live in the City of Toronto. Members are not required to attend a minimum number of meetings to maintain their membership status.
