EAST YORK PROBUS CLUB |
Probus clubs are social clubs that were originally formed for Professional or Business men and women who have retired or are semi-retired from their jobs or business, but are also for those who have spent time raising a family. We welcome retirees from any and all backgrounds who want to maintain a social network with others who have similar interests. Our goal is to provide Fellowship, Friendship and Fun for men and women in their retirement and semi-retirement years. Today, there are over 400,000 members in approximately 4,000 Probus clubs worldwide. Canada has about 36,500 members in 244 different clubs. Locally, there is our club (East York Probus), the Toronto Probus Club, and a new one being formed in North York. There are many clubs in the surrounding communities like Pickering or Etobicoke. For more information about Probus Clubs in Canada go to: https://www.probus.org/welcome.html Note: While Probus originally started as a men’s club, it is now very much a club for BOTH women and men. | Why Join? People want to stay connected, active and engaged in retirement. Probus clubs address this need and provide social events and regular group activities to foster new interests and friendships. It’s an opportunity to meet people with similar interests such as walking, dinners out, lunch bunch, bridge, investing, birding, wine tasting, theatre, movies, discussion groups etc. There are also special events that take place from time to time. Monthly meetings also provide an opportunity to get to know people and to hear speakers discuss current topics of interest. Clubs are non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit and non-fundraising. Members shape the future direction of the club through their advice and participation. East York Probus Monthly Meetings: These take place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from September to June at 1:15 p.m. at St. Cuthbert’s Anglican Church, 1399 Bayview Avenue, Toronto. Our Website: This website will be your go-to hub to keep informed about what’s going on and sign up for monthly activities, special events and view the members’ contact list. Monthly Newsletter: Once you become a member, you will also receive a newsletter sent out monthly to all members providing information about upcoming events, speakers who will be at the monthly meeting and links to register for activities. | How do I become a member?
