What is Probus?

Probus is a social organization for retired and semi-retired people.  It is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian, non-fundraising fellowship movement that operates worldwide with more than 300,000 members in 4,000 clubs. In Canada, there are more than 250 clubs serving 35,000 members.

The name Probus is an amalgam of the abbreviation of the words professional and business.

Probus clubs are intended to be simple in structure, free of the constraints and obligations of a service club and involve members at a minimal cost.

Each Probus club is autonomous, but is coordinated through Probus Canada to ensure consistency and to preserve the integrity and reputation of the movement worldwide.

Why Join a Probus Club?

Probus clubs encourage healthy minds and bodies, and offer opportunities to socialize with others at a time in life when it might be easy to become complacent or lonely.

Probus members say that belonging to the club has provided an opportunity to develop new friendships, pursue interests with like-minded people, and learn new skills.

We offer informative monthly guest speakers, a broad range of interesting activities and social events, stimulating conversation and the chance to explore your community and beyond with new friends.

Through Probus Canada, you can access discounts on things like health, travel, home and automobile insurance.
